Recorded live on April 23, 2005 in Athens, GA, after Coleman had spent two weeks in Afghanistan in March of 2005 as the first State Department speaker sent there in twenty-five years. The Rumi poems are accompanied on banjo, fiddle, and song-bow by Art Rosenbaum, on guitar and mandolin by Jim Richardson and on flute by Bill Oglesby. Coleman’s granddaughter, Briny Barks (13), makes a surprise appearance on stage to read two of her own poems, “Hammock” and “untitled.”
